ADDIS ABABA, Nov 4 (Reuters) – Ethiopia’s Tigray region has banned flights from its airspace, after the Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed ordered a military response against the region, it said on a statement broadcast on television.

The region also said that the Northern Command of the federal military, which is stationed in the region, had defected to its side. There was no immediate comment from the federal military on the claim.

  1. Without the last sentence Mr. Ittu Aba Farda’s opinion is correct and I agree with him.

  2. Well this story tells me two things. I asked myself ‘How a small regional government bans all flights from its airspace and will it be able to protect it?’ The answer I am contemplating is either they were able to take control the huge arsenal of the federal forces that was there during the face-off with Eritrea which includes the latest anti-aircraft missiles and other batteries. Also they may have been getting some extra help from outside. In any case, the killing field is well constructed and ready. Have a nice glass of human blood Chairman Debre and PM Abiy!!!
