I followed, ESAT on the role of PALTALK rooms posted on, Feb. 14. I suggested, “YeHasab Gulicha” an equivalent word for “PALTALK room” in Amharic/Oromiffa for few PALTALK rooms in the past. The phrase origin might be “Oromiffa”, I am not sure.
I propose, “YeWeYeyet Gulicha” and “YeChiWiWit Gulicha” to be seen with “YeHasab Gulicha and discussion
to start in all rooms. If there are other phrases let us bring it too for discussion too.
“Gulicha” is a foundation for Ethiopian traditional families and linguistics can evaluate if it is applicable here. To make “Injera” and “Wete” families make their own “Gulicha”. I argue “Gulicha” for ideas and talks is appropriate.
The moderator Ato Fasil on ESAT seems not a “fan” of PALTALK rooms. However, Meles Zenawi and his people tried to control these rooms since 2005 if they can, if not “attack/insult” them as totally useless. Meles Zenawi himself participated in PALTALK rooms that backed him, “Ethiopian Civility Room ” and believed to be entering in nicknames to follow what is going in rooms which are not supporting him, “Ethiopian Current Affairs Discussion Forum Room/ECADF, QALE, Assimba etc.
ESAT should be commended for bringing PALTALK for discussion. PALTALK gives us the only opportunity to speak our mind 24/7 in the Diaspora which ESAT or other radios are not expected to do. If Ethiopians are free we will have many ESAT’s and PALATLAK rooms. One Radio, One TV and One PALTALK room can not be a solution in a diverse country like Ethiopia.
I do believe PALTALK rooms can bring accountability if they encourage participants to use their real names. Until then with all its shortcomings PALTALK rooms should be encouraged to continue and those that are not good enough/Balegewoche will expose themselves and die out.
Most of all I would like to thank the Admins/Astenabariwoche in rooms 24/7 like ECADF, QALE for their commitment. Without those volunteers “Ye ChiWiWit Gulicha” is impossible. Thank You all “YeWeYeyet Astenabariwoche”. The rest of us who benefited from PALTALK rooms in sharing ideas or just to be with fellow Ethiopians have to pay small amount of fee once in a year for Room Rent, “YeGulicha Keraye”

I remember when Qale room open, isn’t that the admins want everybody to accept Seye Abraha’s leadership without questioning? If I am not missed a lot that was the problem qale room admins have with the rest of ECADF but where is Seye Abraha today? He is in school like a little kid he didn’t went school while fighting derg that shows how he was fake. Qale room admins should apologize ECADF and come back to our little Ethiopia.

ET-Hagere,
Qale Room was opened less than two years ago, If you have not been in Paltalk, how come you know about them. But otherwise I would like to say: By going away and not trying to make a change in these rooms shows your weaknesses and not the ones who try their best to make a change.

I suggest that it be called Yewuyeyit Shengo or Yewuyeyit Makele . These two names would fit the purpose. Certainly Gulicha is not a good choice.

The best neme is “YeWeYeYet Janmeda(Janhoy Meda)”. I remember very different things were taking place at Janmeda for example at Tiket Baal. Eventhough the occasion is planned for religious purpose.
Thank you
With best regards

As a former participant, I think Paltalk has its strengths and weaknesses. I too don’t support the idea raised by interviewer “since it is an open forum why not everyone can say what he/she feels?” On the other hand, I support the idea of pro-Ethiopian rooms merging together. During my time, I knew few rooms, such as Current Affairs, Diaspora, Kinijit Swiss, Asimba, EPRP-d.. whose main goal is similar, i.e. ONE Ethiopia. I don’t see major issue why these groups can’t work together.
I have never been to paltalk for close to 5 years. However, from what I hear, out of the new rooms, Qale has people I respect a lot. Again, things might have changed since, but I see no difference especially between Current Affairs and Qale.
In my opinion, as Jan Amora touched on in this interview, the demise of Ethiopian Paltalks began when it lost the dynamic people such as Le_hagere. I leaned a lot from Le_hagere. With people like Le_hagere, I can surely say Ethiopia has hope!! ET_hagere.
