Thanks for your very interestingly expressed commentay( report ). I want to say that the very encouraging and inspiring spirit of togetherness against the master of ruthless ruling circle ( Meles Zenawi ) for the last couple of days in DC and around Camp David is something which desreves to be considred as significant part and parcel of the struggle for the realization of genuine democracy, justice and shared prosperity. And I sincerely belieive talking and writing about it is desirable as long as it is understood and expressed in such a way that it is used as a practical force in keeping the momentum of the struggle much more powerful and result- oriented. It is from this point of view of mine that I strongly agree with the idea of speaking, telling and writing about it is a necessary repeation!!

Having said this, let me just jot down a couple of my points of view in this regard:

= I sincerely believe that it is so desirable and rational to recognize and admire all the genuinely concerned and couragous individuals and groups who had and have a very great positive influence on the outcome of the outstanding demonstrations aganist the tyrannical regime in our country. It is absoluetly worth mentioning that the remarkable call (appeal ) by the leaders of the two great religions( Christianity and Islam ) for a very critical importance of coming together and helping each other had and has a lot to do with our success stories . Those religious leaders did not simply tell us but most importantly showed us in practical terms by going out and protesting against the ill-guided politics in our country in the streets of the city of Canada. I strongly believe this genuine move by the two religious institutions had and have huge part to play in the very successful events of the last couple of days in cities of America. So ,whenever we talk or write about our success stories , it is absolutely desirable and necessary to connect the dots which have meaningful roles not only beauce we want to make the story complete but most importantly to make them the driving forces in our forward-looking efforts.

= I also strongly believe that the efforts being made by some opposition political groupings and movements such as Ginbot -7 ,OLF ,the Movement for the New Ethiopia and all other efforts being made by individuals and groupings have a very significant positive impact on our recent healthy way of doing things such as the very encouraging participations ( both at individual and team work level) in the success story of protests . I therefore want to saythat whenever we talk,discuss, write and etc. about certain succsess stories, we need to give due recognition and appreciation not only to those who perform well in effecting the end result but also to those who play great role in the process of making things happen.

= Last but not least is the need to bring the recent popular movements in different parts of our coutry into the picture of our success stories is absolutely necessary and decisive . Needless to say that many patriotic Ehtiopians have paid the ultimate sacrfices in an incredible manner ( remeber teacher Yeneesew and others) , and thuosands of innocent compatriots are paing extremely priceless sacrifices . I strongly believe that these and all other oustanding fights against the brutal ruling elite has an inredibly positive impact on evry step of our struggle for justice and genuine development . Let us not forget to connect this huge part of our strength whenever and wherever we talk,tell and write about certain success stories . I am not saying it seems that we tend to stay and dwell on one side of the story intentionally . Absolutely not! What I want to say is that let us not forget all the indespensible factors or players in the process of our struggle for genuine freedom and prosperity.

The people of Ethiopia shall prevail sooner,not later!!

As we applaud the bravery of our brother Abebe Gelaw, it is also important to put this symbolic act in the broader context:

1. TPLF/EPRDF/TYRANT MZ

TPLF/EPRDF as a regime and tyrant MZ particularly have turned politics and national assets to a totally private domain where they alone are the stakeholders and arbiters of reality.
No system could last long by using a brute force alone as MZ has wished using ploys such as democracy, development.
As sociologists argue where ”Where there is no a sense of sharing/belonging, there is no spirit of fear/loyalty!”

2. MESSAGES TO MONEY MAKING CONSULTANT AGENCIES/LOBBYISTS

Tyrant MZ hires PR and solicitor law firms with one objective in mind-spinning the non-existent achievements and attacking those who raise concerns about fundamental violations of rights.
These same agents through a link up with the powerful corridors of power literally purchase access for MZ to continuously get invited on the world stage to show case death and destruct ions as achievements.
This has gone on for a far too long and was bound to explode on the manipulator’s face and those who find it convenient to ignore Ethiopians’ pains and misery in exchange for some putative rewards that the tyrant offers them.
What Abebe has done would hopefully wake up western policy makers to reflect on the future and as to how to explain to their tax payers bank-rolling killers around the world!

3. MEANINGS OF ABEBE’S HEROIC ACT

Abebe has shattered the myth that diaspora has no direction and influence.
It has shown the organic solidarity between what goes on in Ethiopia and the Ethiopian diaspora as the main voice of the voiceless as well as as the channel for highlighting on international stage that genocide/barbaric acts cannot be conducted in seclusion/far away from international scrutiny!

Well done! our heroic brother, Abebe, for carrying out the gesture of defiance!

4. FUTURE DIRECTION

Looking to the future, this is a turning point in that the veil of ‘protection’ has been removed from the tyrant who sees himself above the law and regularly humiliating Ethiopians from his hide-out and security safe-enclaves!
It is no longer ‘I shall continue as usual’ twisted psycho-drama that the tyrant alone has access to!. Tyrant MZ either bites the bullets and use this opportunity to begin thinking where else from this end of the road or sink even further low until as the final rites are to be committed on him!

For those around the tyrant, it is a wake up call to see that the make-believe era of corruption and lying is over! They are responsible for their actions ; better for these criminal associates distance themselves from the pathological liar!

For Ethiopian democrats, our first task is protecting Abebe, using the method in a broader approach to scale up an all-inclusive organic solidarity to build a better future for all!!
