Ethiopia: Pictorial Reportage of Today’s Rally in Seattle

Once again, Seattle’s Free Birtukan and UDJ shined and took almost the center stage of the Martin Luther King Rally in the County that is named after Dr. King. – Dr. Martin Luther King, JR. Seattle UDJ is lucky to have influential elected officials like Mr. Larry Gosette of King County Executive, and other activist such as the local NAACP chapter as an ally.

As you may ascertain from some of the photos herein, thanks to Ato Kebede (true and dedicated honourable man!) of Vancouver and Seattleites made Birtukan’s unjust, illegal, and unconscionable imprisonment comes to light. The rally organizers and the participants all heard, saw, and recognized that Ethiopia is ruled by a brutal dictator and showed us their solidarity with us.

We chanted loudly “FREE BIRTUKAN, JAIL FOR MELES, and JUSTICE IN ETHIOPIA” and were able to solicit the attention of many demonstrators. The rally was highly successful of we had a huge portrait of Birtukan displayed from the main stage, and we handout a brief Bio leaflets about Birtukan and other political prisoners in Ethiopia.
