Dear VOA Board of Governors,
How comes the Friday May 18 event that shocked Meles Zenawi and his foreign backers at the Regan Building between 10:30 am and 11 am was blocked from the Ethiopian public back home ? Is VOA the propaganda media of the Obama Administration or the tax payers funded media that reflects the value of the American people ? America is not China where people are told what to see and hear. VOA is now behaving like Chinese media under the control of one party to censor the brave Journalist act who exposed the most hated person in Ethiopia, Meles Zenawi the number one Terrorist in Ethiopia.
We will get Our Freedom to speak, write and Free Media by our struggle. We never asked for any liberator in our History. We will remove Meles Zenawi by popular uprising no doubt about that. When? Very Soon.
We will send this heroic Action of Abebe Gellaw on DVD, CD, facebook and other social medias available to educate our young people. Meles Zenawi who is lecturing his rubber stamp parliament and his foreign backers is a coward that will melt on popular uprising. Meles Zenawi is not Tiger he is Chicken.

Dear fellow Ethiopians,
Yes, the deep and wide mismatch between the very colorful rhetorics and what we do in reality is not only outragous but extremely disturbing . I wish president Obama as a politician or any other owner of business could be exeptions of such very unfortunate behaviors and actions. Yes, it is true that dishonesty and disinginousity are the ugly face of human nature. As it is as old as human history itself, it will remain so . What is becoming much more uglier is when it becomes more crude and cruel in this era of information technoloy when any good or bad bevior or action is taking place in an incredibly open secret manner. Any genuinely concerned ordinary person is well aware about the horrible politically motivated crimes being committed by the brutal regimes of our time let alone the president of the most powerful country on earth.
Yes, I understand that as long as we live in a very interdependent community of the world, we cannot avoid or ignore everybody else and stand by ourselves . That is why we have to keep trying to engage individuals, instiutions and countries in the process of the struggle toward establishing democratic and just society of ours .We have to outrightly reject the very ugly idea of considering the people of the world in general and, Africans and Ethiopians in particular as just collection of people who do not deserve basic political/democratic and human rights. And we should not forget what happened in north Africa .Those “donors “were good friends of bad guys for decades . It is only when the people said “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH ” that the big friends of big bad guys sided with the people . Why? Because they had to adjust their long term interests accordingly.
Anyway, let us keep our movement by making our efforts much more stronger in every aspect and direction of the struggle.
Yes,peoples’ victory is invitable! But, we have to make it happen!!

I do agree with you. Bush put money to help the poor in Africa. Obama try to sell our land for large corporation. Obama has the color of our skin but his heart is where money is. No More Obama. Stay home in the coming election. Obama and USAID are the enemy of small farmers and the ally of Land Grabbers. We will win the war for our land !!!!

This all sends a clear message to ordinary citizens of the world. that is Obama says ” WE DON”T HAVE INTEREST IN DEMOCRACY, FREEDOM OR THE SO CALLED AMERICAN VALUES, WE ARE SET TO SUPPORT THOSE TYRANTS WHO ARE SET TO COMMIT GENOCIDE CRIME AND REDUCE POPULATION IN THE FORM OF STARVATION, ETHNIC CLEANSING, TORTURE AND ALL FORM OF SUPPRESSION AND KEEP OUR INTEREST ALIVE” So if this is Obama’s message, what would be the response of ordinary citizens of Ethiopia, Africa, America and all peace and freedom loving people of this planet?

Unfortunately I am not Ethiopian American, but if I could I would love to mobilize the vote of Ethiopian Americans’ not for Obama. Bush had done lot of support to dictator Meles but still he was also supporting the poor especially through his health care initiative (PEPFAR, global fund etc). Obama is a blood sucker more than Bush but still is the best preference to Ethiopian Americans. why why?

For me and almost all of my friends, the VOA has already ceased to exist in our list of media outlets which we consider worth listening ever since its founding principles and objectivity was shaken and compromised during the last year’s dispute in the Amharic service which apparently ended up with making the media almost another mouthpiece for the ruthless dictator in Addis. They have put in place some sort of mechanism whereby they measure the emotional and political impacts of a given ‘news’ on the TPLF government before airing it. Fact is fact, Our forefathers fought the good fight and secured the freedom of that land back in the days without the VOA (for that matter it was not even conceived) and frankly speaking we, the people, don’t necessarily need the VOA even today in our fight to take back our freedom from Zenawi and his cronies. It doesn’t matter weather the VOA tell it or not, the truth will always remain as it is and Abebe Gelaw has spoken the truth. Soon, the people back home will get it through various means and it shall inspire them!

VOA was a propaganda tool during the cold war, they probably have finished their purpose and they are in the limbo at this time. Maybe their new mission is to support the new war that follows the cold war, the war against terrorism. The problem this time is they are serving as the mouthpiece of dictators who are terrorizing their own population. The only way out for Ethiopians is to fight it our own way, we don’t need VOA or DW for that.
